There are very few Indian actresses whom i just adore…Meena Kumari (may her soul rest in peace) is one of them I wasn’t very fond of her acting or beauty either, but somehow i always found her to be very attractive in some strange painful way. I never knew that she was a poetess too..it may not be her claim to fame but i absolutely love her writings. Here is one written by her and of course in her own voice too.
Chand tanha hai asman tanha
dil milaa hai kahan kahan tanha
bujh gaye aas chup gaya tara
thar-tharata raha dhuwan tanha
zindagi kiya isi ko kahte hain
jism tanhaa hai aur jaan tanha
ham-safar koi agar mile bhi kaheen
dono chalte rahe tanha tanha
jalti bujhti si raushni ke paray
simta simta sa ek makan tanha
rah dekha karega sadiyon tak
chor jayenge ye jahan tanha
